A note from Dorothy...

Hi {!firstname},

The music is playing, the mood is festive and the lights are twinkling on houses all about town. Children's concerts and parties abound. Anticipation increases every day as we get closer to the Christmas holidays. Regardless of our cultural or religious background, it is a special time of the year.  In addition to the joy of sharing time with family and friends, many of us find ways to help others who are in need. At any time of the year our generosity makes a huge difference to so many, but it is especially important now..

It is also a time of the year for wrapping up the bits and pieces of this year and looking forward to the year ahead. It is an important time to do everything possible to foster optimism within ourselves and encourage those around us. A whole New Year is about to begin!

In my article this week, I will touch again on the importance of your plan for 2011. Don't just leave it to chance. And I will also touch on the wrap up of 2010.....no drama and no hangovers please!

My first newsletter for 2011 will come to your email on January 11th.  I look forward to connecting then if not before. Enjoy the holidays. I wish you love, happiness, good health and prosperity in the year ahead.

Best Always,
Dorothy

Here Comes 2011...

The final days of 2010 are here. It is a time to reflect on your successes, learn from your misses and finalize your plans for 2011.

Over the past months I have talked about the dreaming part of planning for your future, about putting dreams on vision boards, about visualizing you playing the leading role in that future. I have also talked about the importance of paying attention to your money and the extra challenge of establishing BOLD goals.

It is exhilarating now, when reflecting on the past year, to see your progress and relish in your accomplishments!

So first let's wrap up 2010. Do you know your numbers?

Such as:

  • your income
  • your expenses
  • your bottom line
  • your assets
  • your liabilities
  • your net worth

Beyond that, you also need to know how it compares to the previous year and how it compared to your expectations. Knowing your numbers is critical to achieving your long term financial freedom!

Pull all the pieces together. Track down anything that is missing. Wrap all of it up with a big red bow! If needed set the date to meet with your accountant. How wonderful it will feel to finalize your year ended 2010, in January, instead of leaving it in the shoebox until April when the tax man cometh!

What freedom this will represent. You will know everything you need to know, from a financial perspective, about the year gone by. You will be able to concentrate on the goals for the year at hand.

Quote of the Week...

"Most people say their main fault is lack of discipline. On deeper thought I believe this is not the case. The basic problem is that their priorities have not become deeply planted in their hearts and minds."

~Stephen Covey

Tip of the Week...

It is valuable and exciting to embrace change. In every part of our life doing that will enhance the journey.

Book of the Week...

The Confession
Author John Grisham

This is the story of a black man wrongly convicted of rape and murder in the State of Texas. A page turner as you watch the date for his execution getting closer and you know he is innocent.

An unusual read for me but one that at the insistence of my husband and a few friends, I surprisingly flew through. A good one for the relaxing hours over the holidays!
