A note from Dorothy...

Hi {!firstname},

This is such an exciting time of the year. I just love the anticipation in the air. It is mostly associated with children and the beginning of a new school year and it takes me back to wonderful memories of shopping for those most amazing back to school outfits - absolutely including the latest in runners and the perfect backpack.

The return to school brings adults, whether parents or not, back to a more organized routine. This is especially true if living in a climate where there are seasons. In this environment, it is essential that everyone take time out for some summer fun and relaxation!

Enjoy the buzz in the air! If you are a parent or grandparent enjoy this opportunity to focus on your family as they move on to the next phase - maybe its first grade, high school or college. Such an important time for them and you!

It is also a great time for everyone to review their Vision Board. It is so much fun to share this with loved ones. Everyone sharing the futures that they dream of living and the plans they have for getting there.

To everything that inspires you!

Best Always,

Do you have a *PLAN* for 2011...

As the last quarter of 2010 approaches, it is essential to take some time to reflect. Reflect on:

  • the successes of the past year
  • the work left to make it everything you planned
  • the dreaming piece about the "big picture" future
  • the thinking about and putting of *PLANS* in place for 2011

Every day, week and month we spend time in action. Time doing the things we know are needed to ensure successful completion of current goals. To ensure we meet all of our personal, family, business or career goals.

However, the action part must be predicated by the dreaming and planning part, otherwise it is like a boat without a rudder. Every business and stage of life is different. Some require much longer lead times for the planning part. For example:

  • Consider the retail business for a moment. The time for planning to have the right quantity and type of inventory on shelves for this Christmas season is a piece of history. Even for Spring 2011, the planning is well advanced or completed and production is started by now. Regardless of all the emphasis on "just in time" fulfillment it is essential to have the dreaming and planning part figured out many seasons ahead!

"Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me, it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly."

~Julie Andrews

Tip of the Week...
Never say "Stop day dreaming" to a child. Encourage the dreaming as it will be the basis of great and enjoyable things in life!

Live Long and Prosper
by Steve Vernon

Retirement has been dramatically changing over the past 20 years because of economics, demographics and politics. It is more often the case that retirement depends on savings and registered retirement savings plans instead of old-fashioned company defined pension plans. People are also living longer, more active retirements. This book addresses the specific financial concerns but also explores ways readers can plan for healthy, active retirement lifestyles.  A good read!
